What ref-verify does

ref-verify extracts the bibliography of a paper and compares each entry with what public search results show. Its verdicts are evidence for you to review, not proof that a citation is fabricated or correct. Always check flagged entries yourself before drawing conclusions about a paper or its authors.

Pricing and refunds

Verification costs $0.10 per entry in the bibliography, paid from the prepaid balance on your account; extraction is included. Uploading a valid PDF charges $0.10 right away, for the first reference. The others are checked automatically, in order, and each is charged as it is checked. If your balance runs out, checking pauses: the results so far stay available, and it continues where it stopped when you add funds. The price is fixed when you upload the PDF. New accounts may get a starting balance once their email address is confirmed.

If extraction fails or processing cannot start, the upload charge is returned automatically. References that could not be checked are not charged, and if no reference could be checked, the upload charge is returned too. Refunds go back to your balance.

Acceptable use

Upload only papers you are entitled to share for this purpose. Do not use ref-verify to harass or defame anyone.
