Privacy

Papers uploaded to ref-verify are often unpublished. This page explains what happens to them.

What we store

• The PDF you upload, for 7 days, on our own server.
• The references extracted from it and the automatic verification results, kept for 30 days.
• If you create an account: your email address, a one-way hash of your password (never the password itself), and a record of the funds you add and spend. If you sign in with Google, we receive only your Google account ID and email address.

Who processes your paper

To extract and verify references we send the extracted reference-section text and the individual reference entries to Google's Gemini API on a paid plan, which Google does not use to train its models, with request storage turned off. Verification runs Google Search queries made of the cited titles, authors and venues. Nothing else is shared.

What we never do

• Use your paper to train models, or let anyone else do so.
• Share, sell or publish your paper or its bibliography.

Your choices

Result links are private: anyone with the link can view the result, so share it only with people you trust. Contact us to delete a document before it expires.
